What Willie thinks is Silly
We ran into Willie on the South Side of Chicago last night. Had a cigarette with him and asked him a few questions:
US: What do think about the media's portrayal of hip hop in print publications?
WILLIE:Damn, y'all asking the real questions early in the evening. I mean, I use slang, hell I even speak jive when I have to. But I just speak it, feel me?
US: Trying to...
WILLIE: Like if I say something that would be wrong on paper but is right in discussion, I know the difference. I can write it right, you know? But these kids that are reading how these rappers and all speak, are gonna grow up thinkin that they (are) supposed to talk and write like that, you know?
US: Do you mind if we quote your "na means" "you knows" and other euphemisms?
WILLIE: Euph--a nothing! Ain't nothing young bout what I'm sayin.
US:Point taken Willie, point taken.
