Tonight Wednesday 18th June was my third time watching any1man playing at the 13th street Repertory theatre. George 2.0 delivers a soaring performance In this ongoing conversational
1 man show. You are constantly engaged, absorbed and included In his journey of manhood told from the souls of 6 characters.

He explores all the elements in creation from philosophical to religious in an unplugged sketch type setting which will have you laughing and crying throughout. Even though it was my 3rd time seeing it, it felt like my 1st as no character was the same, each time I saw growth and had a whole new experience.

Overall a wonderfully written piece and very creative idea that is most definitely a must see for everyone.
Runtime is approx 70 minutes.

If there is Any1Person that you know that has not seen this performance, tonight is the night to bring them.

You should know how last nights go. It's like this: The cast gets in that zone, elephants balance on each others backs, and monkeys speak in Spanish.

While none of that is going to happen this time around, you should anticipate that the men of Any1Man will be trying to outdo themselves.

Aaaaand, we are having an after party replete with an open bar, because that is what the cast asked for. (Yes, I said "the cast")

We will wait an extra 10 minutes for you because it is a Monday and your boss is probably a jerk.

Each night we turn the air conditioning in the theater on...EARLY. But feel free to do as many audience members are doing and watch the performance in your skivvies. The characters on stage are so revealing, they may make you want to come up out of your clothes anyway. If that doesn't work for you, we have plenty of wine to keep you cool throughout the show.

Show starts each Monday and Wednesday promptly at 7pm at the 13th Street Repertory Theatre on 13th street between 5th and 6th Avenues.

Bring a friend...you will need someone to talk to after the show. Trust me.

Many of you were there when Adam, Willie, Wesley, Man-Tan and Bishop were born on the stage of The Rialto in Atlanta, Georgia… You were there to see them crawl in Philly and eventually stand up and walk in Dallas at the AA Museum… If you caught up to them by the time they came to New York for the first time they were growing facial hair at the Tribeca Center for the Performing Arts… And if you saw their last performance at 13th Street Repertory Theatre, well, let's just say by then “Victor” was born and the men of Any1Man were all grown up.

All 6 of them will be back on the 13th Street Repertory Theatre stage EVERY Monday and Wednesday this June after being offered an extended run of their amazing performance last March. THIS IS HUGE! Think of it as GRADUATION!!!

If you have been, tell a friend, bring your family... if you haven't seen the show, this run is for YOU.

Everyday it's kinda like this...like the same way you know which side of the stairs you are s'posed to walk down...and like, when you see somebody walk up the side you s'posed to walk down and you ask yourself "why does he think he can do that?" Well, a lot of people think I am that somebody. They think I am walking on the wrong side of the stairs. Says who? I walk where I want..and people don't like that. People don't want you to dream...at all.

We are back. March 24-27th, 2008 13 Street Rep Theater. This show is personal. It is as close to a one on one conversation as theater will allow. You will feel like you are on stage, and if you don't find yourself "on stage" you will feel like the men of Any1Man are off stage. Every single soul in the audience of this low occupancy space will be essential to the ethos of Any1Man.

If there is anyone that has not happened to see the show prior to this four show engagement, you have the unbridled opportunity of seeing the culmination of years of hard work and self examination. For those of you that have seen the show prior to this revival tour, you should anticipate the growth of a set of characters that will allow you to invest in their lives and weigh in on the decisions they make; decisions that will invariably affect the rest of their lives.

With the addition of two new characters, the full breadth of Manhood will be approached with an intimacy that will make you (and your fine ass date) feel like the only two in the room.

Yours,
George A. Peters, II

"THE SPONSORS BACKED OUT." THE MARCH PRODUCTION OF ANY1MAN HAS BEEN SUSPENDED.

in the meanwhile, allow us to share with you a review from our most recent performance.

"An Encounter with Any 1 Man" by Monique Brantly

The lights when dim and suddenly he appeared on in the stands wearing what can be described as nothing more than a conservative sort of loin cloth. A vulnerable svelte brown body making his way to the stage floor below and speaking from the perspective of the biblical Adam on the loss of innocence and the weight of life’s trials.

The space went dark. And before he could reappear I jotted down only one thing: “excellence is a selfish, lonely pursuit, but someone has to do it.”

It.

He.

Was amazing.

He was excellent to me in that moment and throughout the performance. The fruits of sacrifice and commitment were so apparent and I respected him for it. Peters transformed himself four more times. Willie, the antagonized son of a distressed mother who verbally abuses him for the mistakes his father made is presented with a morbid sort of honesty. Wesley (my personal favorite) is a dazzling beacon of creative beauty and spunk who’s light is threatened by the desperate measures his parents feel they must take to try to extinguish his “deviant” sexuality. Man-Tan masquerades about in a seemingly dream-like existence challenging his onlookers to expand themselves beyond the everyday in pursuit of the dreams that will otherwise be left behind. Lastly, there is Bishop, educated, witty and homeless; a representation of the potential within each of us to go “missing” in this world. Peters portrayed each of these characters, peas of the same societal pod, with careful complexity and warm clarity.

Any 1 Man was, in a word, transforming and I hope that as his success spreads, others will be touched and changed as I was.
