“Out of the Mouth of one man…comes the soul of everyman…seen through the eyes of Any1Man"
Limited Engagement opens Thursday, April 9th at Alexia Robinson Studio
“Black men face a unique set of challenges in America today. You are engaging difficult issues head-on, and I commend you for that.”
~ President Barack Obama, in a letter addressed to the creators Any1Man
March 1, 2009 -- Burbank, CA -- Gary Levingston will present the West Coast premiere the critically acclaimed one man show written by George Peters II and B.Fontenot Johnson and directed by Hezekiah Lewis. The show will preview Sunday, April 5th at 3pm and will open on Thursday, April 9th for 8 performances: April 9th, 10th, 11th 12th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th. Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm, Sunday matinees at 3pm. Performances will take place the Alexia Robinson Studio, 2811 West Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, CA 91505.
Any1Man was inspired by the issues facing Black men today. As the achievement gap between Black men and women continues to widen, Any1Man presents a portrait painted with the brush strokes of six men and examines their fears, dreams and hang-ups as they tackle life, love and adversity. Any1Man is the story of choice. It begins with Adam's choice to bite the Apple in the Garden of Eden and follows the journey of six men as they make choices that lead them to triumph via tragedy. And so goes the grueling introspection into the paradigm of manhood--every night. Wrought with painful admissions, coupled by towering debt, yet rewarded by the artistic satisfaction only a vessel can feel. Out of this inwardness Any1Man grows.
You will laugh. You will be angered. You will empathize. You will want to ask questions.
“It is indeed a great pleasure to support and be a fan of this great performance,” said Dwayne Crawford, Chief Operating Officer, 100 Black Men of America. “It is one of the rare opportunities for the public to see and hear the multiple faces of the men of African Descent.”
"Angry, funny, sad, wise, and curious, each man is, as the title says, 'any one man', and if you are not one of the characters played by Peters, you know someone who is."
